The European Dairy Association (EDA) is not only the acknowledged voice of the European milk processing industry in Brussels, but also the benchmark for all sector specific organisations in the field of agriculture in creating a European forum for both high level debates on the future of the European ”lactosphere” and in depth analysis of today’s dairy related topics on the European agenda.
EDA is first of all the European milk processors’ platform for internal exchange and alignment throughout all parts of Europe and across all types of dairy companies, cooperatives and privately owned dairies, world dairy leaders and SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises). Our EDA Presidium reflects the diversity of our industry: next to our EDA President, Michel Nalet (Lactalis, FR), Dr. Josef Schwaiger (DMK, DE), Jan Teplý (Madeta, CZ), Jais Valeur (Arlafoods, DK) and Attilio Zanetti (Zanetti, IT) serve in our EDA Presidium.
A high level ”white” think tank, where today’s dairy expertise meets with the vision of tomorrow’s challenges and opportunities for our dairy sector.
Within EDA and our network, we collect, relay, analyse and share information. We coordinate consensual and coherent approaches by the European Dairy Industry to European institutions and international bodies, in order to help them make their decisions on an informed basis.
In our EDA Committees and Working Groups, we focus on the European dairy industry’s competitiveness and on sustainable growth.
We centre our energy around three pillars: securing the European milk base, uncorking the potential of the EU internal markets and making most of the growth in the world.
EDA 2016 translates into European Dairy Ambition and we are more than proud to co-host, with our French member association ATLA, our annual convention and ‘European Dairy Platform’ conference in Nice (FR).
Connect to the world of dairy!

EDINBURGH, OCTOBER 2015
‘A new start for the European Dairy’, the overarching theme of our EDA annual convention of 15 October 2015 in Edinburgh, provided a perfect platform for a high level exchange with outstanding executives from our European ‘lactosphère’.
Peter Giørtz-Carlsen (Arla Foods), Ronald Kers (Müller Group), Dr. Sil van den Ploeg (Meggle AG), Paul Vernon (Glanbia), Robert Graham (Graham’s Dairies) and Joost Korte (DG AGRI) discussed together with Kevin Bellamy (Rabobank) the avenues for the future development of the European dairy sector.
“The rich discussion between these industry leaders and the more than 200 participants of our conference has provided an excellent panorama of future options for our sector. We’ve seen the different strategies of these executives and – for me – there are two underlying messages. Firstly: the wide range of potential avenues for our future success underlines the strength of our sector within all types of dairies. And secondly: there is an impressive commitment to implement the ambition of our sector for the benefit of the whole dairy chain from the farm to the consumer,” EDA Chair Michel Nalet concluded.
The massive participation of the UK dairy companies in our 2015 conference, co-organized with Dairy UK, was exemplary and underlined the strong interdependence of the processing sector within the EU internal market.
Let’s bring our European discussions to the next level at the 2016 “European Dairy Platform” on 2nd December 2016 in Nice : European Dairy Ambition”.
